Kasteelbier Bruin is a full bodied and intense, bitter dark-chocolaty, dark barley wine. Best served in a branded chalice glass, with or without the sediment. Good with chocolate pudding or as a digestive.
Strong dark ale, hints of dried fruit and chocolate on the nose, a sweetish palate and a long, evolving fruity finish. Full bodied and intense, bitter dark-chocolaty, Dark Barley Wine.
Kasteelbier Bruin from Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck is a top fermentation beer with an alcohol content of 11%.
Founded in 1811 by Armandus Van Honsebrouk, the brewery is now in its 5th generation of the Van Honsebrouck family brewing an ever diverse range of beers.
We have travelled to Belgium many times and always look out for new beers to try. We first tasted this beer in Prague, by the bar tenders recommendation. Since then we have been hooked. We have even been to the brewery in Izegem, Belgium to see it made. Its now out favourite beer, and we have even tried to brew similar at home (not a bad result). This beer has a depth to it, caramel, dark chocolate yet creamy. Its deceptively strong, and in the UK can only be matched by Imperial Stout. If you like dark/stout beers you will love it. Beermerchants are one of only a few places who have it in stock.

This has to be one of the smoothest 11%'s out there due to the residual sugar content and goes down a treat. Hints of chocolate and raisins with a surprisingly subtle alcohol aftertaste.

That's a blast. Very thick, sweet, fruity but doesn't put you off if you want to feel hops. Malty to the core. Amazing beer
